Brian Olmo is a skilled science communicator and public relations professional.
Olmo graduated summa cum laude with his Bachelor's in Public Relations, Advertising and Applied Communications from Florida International University. He's also the recipient of the prestigious John Wolin Scholarship and was the editor-in-chief of PantherNOW, the university's independent student paper.
During his undergraduate years, he's worked various roles: video production intern for NASA, news desk intern for NBC Sports and photo office intern for The White House.
Most recently, Olmo worked as a Communications Fellow for the Translational Research Institute for Space Health (TRISH). TRISH is a consortium led by the Baylor College of Medicine in partnership with MIT and Caltech. Funded by NASA's Human Research Program, TRISH tackles the most pressing space health issues. In his time with TRISH, Olmo devised a communications campaign for one of TRISH's most exciting projects: human hibernation. Olmo created a content calendar, wrote an op-ed on the subject and edited various videos explaining the concept at a high level.
With experience in graphic design, video editing and science communications, Olmo is a valuable asset to any team.
"Brian worked with us as a paid intern for a few months and right from the beginning he stood out with his energy and professionalism and positive attitude. He generated several quality products including a professional video clip on one of our more complex science projects that was truly inspired. If I had the funding and position open for another talented science communicator I would hire him immediately."
- Dorit Donoviel, Ph.D, TRISH Executive Director
"Brian is ambitious and an incredible self-starter. As a communications fellow/intern at the Translational Research Institute for Space Health (TRISH), a NASA cooperative agreement, Brian contributed significantly to our small but mighty team. He was always eager to jump in and take on new projects and tasks and see them through to completion. TRISH is a place where new ideas and concepts are welcomed and valued, and Brian showed up with many - some even ready to be fully executed. We are sad to see him leave at the end of his internship with us, but excited to see where he may go and spread his wings."
"During the handful of months I've known Brian, he's grown into an excellent science communicator. As his manager and supervisor, I would highly recommend Brian."
- Madison Hever, TRISH Communications Manager
"I worked with Brian at the Translational Research Institute for Space Health in spring of 2025. Brian has an intense enthusiasm to tackle any task or project that is asked of him. He looks to find creative solutions that result in tangible benefits that benefit the team and is always eager to find interesting ways to capture content. Whether it be video editing, graphic design, copywriting or any other form content creation, Brian is able to provide a quality product that was an impactful purpose for whichever institution he is at. I highly recommend Brian for any employment opportunities!"
